Butane Honey Oil (sometimes called Butane Hash Oil), labs like the simulated kit pictured here, are used by amateurs to create homemade marijuana wax and/or “shatter”, both of which are designed to be highly potent THC derivatives of marijuana. These labs are increasingly being encountered by the law enforcement community, and the way these labs are used involves a highly dangerous process in which explosions can and do happen. Training and awareness on what to look for in a BHO lab are crucial in ensuring personnel safety.
